Unveiling Our Story
I started clowning and balloon twisting in 1985, when my Optimist Club was desperate for a clown to entertain100 orphans from Mexico at a “Christmas-In-July” Padre baseball tailgate party. For the next six years I continued to only clown and balloon twist at Optimist youth events. In 1992/93, I completed the Performing Arts’ Beginning, Intermediate, and Advance Clown-ology classes offered at San Diego State University and became Big Red da Clown.
As a member of San Diego All Star Clowns, I expanded my clowning to include volunteering for nonprofit community service events, visits to hospitals, and convalescent-homes. Over the years, I have continued to improve my skills by attending over 20 clown and balloon art workshops/conventions. In January 2006, we moved to Hemet, and I became an active member of the “Happy Clowns of Hemet.”
Unfortunately, the group became inactive and fell apart. Performing as a “clown” has become just a joyful memory of my past. In 2012, I began to use my balloon twisting talent to supplement my retirement income. I worked as an Independent Contractor for Event Planners. The Covid-19 pandemic suspended all balloon twister gig-work, so in December of 2020, I created “Balloon Art by Big Red”

I’m Addis Scott, the proud owner, and with nearly four decades of experience as a Balloon Twister, I bring a wealth of skill and passion to every celebration. The challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic may have affected balloon twister gigs, but it inspired me to elevate my services. Since launching in 2022, Balloon Art by Big Red specializes in the art of balloon twisting and creative balloon decorating.
As a dedicated professional, I collaborate with a diverse clientele, serving as a go-to for families, event planners, and businesses seeking unique and captivating experiences. My role extends to Homeowners’ Associations, where I seamlessly integrate my services to enhance events and gatherings.
